Hallo lieber Gast

“You can not look at a sleeping cat and feel tense.”

– Jane Pauley

.

There's a special relationship between Coralie and this doll, called Nisse. Our other cat, Xenia, who has been living in cat heaven for four years now, has always lain on the spot where the doll sits. Sometimes it seems to me, that Coralie is communicating with Nisse; in any case, she likes to sleep very close to her occasionally.

I know who I am

 .

“What's your name,' Coraline asked the cat. 'Look, I'm Coraline. Okay?'

'Cats don't have names,' it said.

'No?' said Coraline.

'No,' said the cat. 'Now you people have names.
That's because you don't know who you are.
We know who we are, so we don't need names.”

― Neil Gaiman, Coraline

We are so happy to spend our lives with cats. This is Coralie, a 14 years young very special British Shorthair cat. Always like a shadow by my side, very cuddly, very intelligent, but a life-long kitten in her soul.

Magic happens!

 .

We have two complete fairy rings mushrooms in the middle of our garden.

I don't have a drone so I can't photograph the rings in full. They are approximately 2 meters in diameter.

The Snail

To grass, or leaf, or fruit, or wall,
The snail sticks close, nor fears to fall,
As if he grew there, house and all
                                                Together.

Within that house secure he hides,
When danger imminent betides
Of storm, or other harm besides
                                                Of weather.

Give but his horns the slightest touch,
His self-collecting power is such,
He shrinks into his house, with much
                                                Displeasure.

Where'er he dwells, he dwells alone,
Except himself has chattels none,
Well satisfied to be his own
                                                Whole treasure.

Thus, hermit-like, his life he leads,
Nor partner of his banquet needs,
And if he meets one, only feeds
                                                The faster.

Who seeks him must be worse than blind,
(He and his house are so combin'd)
If, finding it, he fails to find
                                                Its master.

Study the past - 2022

Another year living with travel restrictions and threat from the Corona virus, but life goes on and we had some gorgeous locations to visit in Germany too. I hope you enjoy this review as much I do.

- January 2022

Making long relaxing walks during Winter is so important and we enjoy the calm and peaceful nature around us.

Study the past, if you would divine the future.

- Confucius

- February 2022

We've discovered a new secret tip for peaceful winter walks surrounded by awesome nature very close to us. A paradise for a lot of animals and we were so lucky that we could observe a large group of cranes there.

- March 2022

Spontaneous short tip to an unknown island (for us!). We had some awesome lovely days on Borkum,   located in the middle of the UNESCO World Heritage Wadden Sea.

- April 2022

After a bad start with Corona into April and that although we were completely vaccinated, we enjoyed finally Springtime at our garden.

- Mai 2022

At the end of May we started our travel to the South of Germany and we enjoyed several stops during this journey. This is Naumburg, a very beautiful old town on our way.

- June 2022

We had an amazing beautiful time at Bad Wiessee, Tegernsee - Bavaria, South Germany.

- Juli 2022

Living at the edge of our small village has always been so very beautiful and we enjoy it even more during these special times.

- August 2022

The sea was calling and we couldn't resist to spent a long weekend at our favorite spot St. Peter-Ording, North sea.

- September 2022

Early Autumn brought us a surprising group of guests in our garden. I was very lucky to be able to film them and that's why I want to show you these cuties.

- October 2022

Another wonderful spot near to us is the Museum village Hoesseringen with its impressive ensemble of a large group of old, really old farmhouses from the last 400 years.

- November 2022

November brought us breathtaking color into our garden.

- December 22

Decorating house and garden for the the festive end of the year is one of my favorite things to do.

Despite the still-threatening pandemic and all its consequences and rules, we are vaccinated four times. I'm so grateful for this marvelous year full of unforgettable moments and I hope that you enjoy this review as much as I do.

All my best wishes to 2023 dear friends. Thanks for your continuing interest, support and wonderful comments and inspiration.

Hugs and Kisses

Bienchen

Bienchen

Summ, summ, summ!
Bienchen summ herum!
Ei, wir tun dir nichts zu leide,
Flieg nur aus in Wald und Heide!
Summ, summ, summ!
Bienchen summ herum!

Summ, summ, summ!
Bienchen summ herum!
Such in Blüten, such in Blümchen
Dir ein Tröpfchen, dir ein Krümchen
Summ, summ, summ!
Bienchen summ herum!

Eure

Mein Norden - Hase und Schaf

Als ein Hase neulich traf
ein nicht allzu schlankes Schaf
fragte jenes: "Meister Lampe

Golden Eyes

When golden eyes no longer glow,
and we both know it’s time to go,

Don’t look at me with eyes so sad,
but think of better times we had,

When sunlight did upon us shine,
and happy days were yours and mine,

And through the grass we both did run,
and on our backs we felt the sun,

Think not of this dark final hour,
think not of when our lives turned sour,

Think not of hopelessness and pain,
but think of joy and laugh again,

For in that final act of love,
you released me to heaven above,

Where finally from pain I’m free,
where one day you will join with me,

Where together again we will rejoice,
and you and I as with one voice,

Will in perfect harmony sing,
of the joy and pain that love can bring,

And remember me just as I will,
always think of you until,

At last, again I see your face,
grieve not, I am in a better place.

Carol Walker

In addition to the unbearably painful loss of my beloved father in March of this year, there is now also the difficult farewell to my Xenia after 17 wonderful years in our life.

Mein Norden - wie ein stiller See

.

Ruhe

über die sehnsuchtssingende Fläche.

Doch wirfst du deines Auges milden Strahl
in meiner singenden Seele lauschenden Grund,
stillreger Wipfel Mondesnachtgesang,
die Schwäne rühren träumend ihr Gefieder
und singen wundertief und wehmutsselig
der Mutter Nacht ein nebeltrübes Lied.

Sheep at Sylt - My North

.

Little Bo-peep has lost her sheep,
And can't tell where to find them;
Leave them alone, and they'll come home,
And bring their tails behind them.

Little Bo-peep fell fast asleep,
And dreamed she heard them bleating;
But when she awoke, she found it a joke,
For they were still a-fleeting.

Then up she took her little crook,
Determined for to find them;
She found them indeed, but it made her heart bleed,
For they'd left their tails behind them!

It happened one day, as Bo-peep did stray,
Unto a meadow hard by,
There she espied their tails side by side,
All hung on a tree to dry.

She heaved a sigh, and wiped her eye,
And over the hillocks she raced;
And tried what she could, as a shepherdess should,
That each tail should be properly placed.

All photos are taken during a wonderful break at the lovely island Sylt, North Germany close to Denmark in March 2018. Everywhere on the island the sheep run free and it's so beautiful to watch them living in this natural way.

Icelandic horse - My North

.

“There is no more sagacious animal than the Icelandic horse. He is stopped by neither snow, nor storm, nor impassable roads, nor rocks, glaciers, or anything. He is courageous, sober, and surefooted. He never makes a false step, never shies. If there is a river or fjord to cross (and we shall meet with many) you will see him plunge in at once, just as if he were amphibious, and gain the opposite bank.”

― Jules Verne, Journey to the Center of the Earth

I've taken this photo here at Lower Saxony. Nearby we have several Icelandic Horse stud farms and visiting them during winter is always a wonderful experience.

Wishing you a lovely and silent time for the last days of the year and a Happy New Year with the hope that you will have many blessings in the year to come”.

Much Love,

isabella

Donau Schiffsmühle, Gifhorn - Danube Boat Mill

.

The Old Mill

HERE from the brow of the hill I look,
Through a lattice of boughs and leaves,
On the old gray mill with its gambrel roof,
And the moss on its rotting eaves.
I hear the clatter that jars its walls,
    And the rushing water’s sound,
And I see the black floats rise and fall
As the wheel goes slowly round.

I rode there often when I was young,
With my grist on the horse before,
And talked with Nelly, the miller’s girl,
    As I waited my turn at the door;
And while she tossed her ringlets brown,
And flirted and chatted so free,
The wheel might stop or the wheel might go,
It was all the same to me.

’T is twenty years since last I stood
On the spot where I stand to-day,
And Nelly is wed, and the miller is dead,
And the mill and I are gray.
But both, till we fall into ruin and wreck,
    To our fortune of toil are bound;
And the man goes, and the stream flows,
And the wheel moves slowly round.

by Thomas Dunn English, 1819 - 1902
