We started slow traveling because it suited us better, and we don’t like busy schedules or crowds. Now that I’ve spent more time with it, I realize how damaging fast travel can be to a local economy. 

When we rush around and spend no more than a day in any given place, we put a strain on the infrastructure and wear down its attractions, but we don’t support local beyond an entrance fee or transit. I’m not trying to make anyone feel bad or take the fun out of travel. 

I really do think there’s a balance, but it’s crazy how many benefits there are to taking it slow!

Because when you stop and look around, this life is pretty amazing.

Wir haben einige Tage in St. Peter-Ording verbracht, und in den nächsten Wochen werden sicherlich einige Impressionen von diesem Aufenthalt folgen. Die Bilder in diesem Post stammen alle von unserem wundervollen Aufenthalt im Mai 2025 an der Costa Brava und wurden in und um Calella de Palafrugell aufgenommen.

Der kleine charmante Küstenort Callela de Palafrugel ist zum Entschleunigen wie geschaffen, und ganz besonders in der Vor- oder Nachsaison. Die südliche Wärme kommt früh im Jahr und geht spät, ich war im November dort und man konnte noch baden. 

Diese Bilder sind Anfang Mai 2025 entstanden, während unserer wundervollen Woche an der Costa Brava. Wir hatten uns diesen Ort als festen Standort während unserer Erkundungstrips an der Costa Brava ausgeguckt und das war ein wirklich Glücksgriff. 

Und gerade jetzt im Februar ist mein Fernweh besonders stark, da sind solche Erinnerungsbilder eine wahre Wohltat. Geht es euch auch so? 

Wir haben es ja fast geschafft, ist doch der meteorologische Frühlingsanfang schon am 1. März. Also nur Mut: Wir bekommen das schon hin, alle gemeinsam!

Costa Brava Greetings

Our time oat the Costa Brava was simply amazing. We saw so much, enjoyed the tranquility of our small holiday resort Calella de Palafrugell, explored, hiked, relaxed, and feasted.

If Once You Have Slept on an Island

As you can probably imagine, I took hundreds of pictures. So, there will be one or two in-depth reports in the coming years. Now, as always, I need to let the impressions sink in, get back home, and get back to everyday life, strengthened and motivated.

Southern Corners 11 - Time machine

Calella de Palafrugell is one of the most attractive towns on the Costa Brava coast.  It sits on a picturesque, rocky part of the coast and the shoreline is hugged by the whitewashed villas and houses that make up the town.

The beaches are small and sandy and next to these is a string of lovely bars and restaurants linked in parts by a wooden walkway - perfect for relaxing from a hard days's sunbathing.

Each beach is seperated by the rocky coastline from the next and so as you walk along you get to a number of small sheltered bays each with a pretty, small beach. It really is lovely. The main beaches have showers and life-guards.
