Hallo lieber Gast

Study the past - 2018

.
- January 2018

Time for a serene and peaceful winter walk around the lakes of Meißendorf and Bannetze Moor. It's a nature reserve and bird reserve of national importance on the edge of the Lüneburg Heath in the state of Lower Saxony in northern Germany. And if you'd luck you got some wonderful misty impressions.

Study the past, if you would divine the future.

- February 2018

Lower Saxony is certainly one of the best regions to visit because it combines wonderfully varied scenery with fascinating towns and cities and great cultural heritage. So the Wienhausen Abbey, founded 1233. And although you can not visit the monastery from the inside during the winter months, is a walk around the gorgeous buildings and through the lovely little park and village just sublime.

- March 2018

In this march it was really time for some seaside days and so we visit Sylt again. It's the largest North Frisian island and a real popular destination for fine food and water sports. Located at Schleswig-Holstein's North Sea coast.

- April 2018

Nature and Garden awakes with fresh green, thousands of tiny flowers and I enjoy spending first afternoons with gardening and my cats outdoor.

- May 2018

In May we've visited after 14 years abstinence one of our all time love points MENORCA.  Fine white sand, the sea an almost-unbelievable shade of turquoise, and the prettiest scenery - Menorca's beaches are often compared to the Caribbean, and yet they're so close to home. These are the most beautiful of them all. Here you can see the little but very lovely beach Cala Alcaufar.

- June 2018

Best month to enjoy all this work done at our garden is June, all the roses (and there are a lot of roses at our garden) are in full bloom - every year again it's absolutely breathtaking and I feel so blessed for this chance in life to plan a garden by myself and to enjoy all its ups and downs. Our cottage garden is now 16 years old and looks exactly like in my dreams. And painting outside, inspired by all these lovely flowers around me is overwhelming and one of my favorite activities during this long days and lightful summer evenings.

- July 2018

Summer 2018 was an endless time of sunny days. It's so fantastic to enjoy some of our wonderfully beautiful lakes nearby at the Lueneburger Heide, Lower Saxony - Germany. Peaceful places, great nature and absolutely silence.

- August 2018

2018 is always a holiday month mostly at the North Sea coast aroung St. Peter-Ording and this year we visit one day the Viking Museum Haithabu. It's one of the most important archaeological museums in Germany. The UNESCO has nominated the Viking Age trading venue and the Danewerk border building as world cultural heritage this year. Both the museum and the seven reconstructed houses located on the grounds show impressively how people live there during the Early Middle Ages.

- September 2018

This was a longtime wish and now it comes true, I'd the possibility to take a watercolor workshop  with Joseph Zbukvic and EPC Art Courses at Girona and Costa Brava. This was a plein air excursion to unique and awesome little village of Calellja de Palafrugell.

- October 2018

With great steps Autumn comes around the corner, so it's time for planning a new Fine-Art-Snail Calendar with my little model friends.

- November 2018

Visiting the Dwarf beech (Fagus sylvatica var. Suentelensis) avenue, Bad Nenndorf, Lower Saxony, Germany was a longtime wish and finally I've done it. See my post about this visit: Autumn at Middle Earth

- December 2018

This year December was a very calm and relaxing month, with much time to enjoy the wonderful Christmas Holidays with delicious food, good friends and family dinners and much time to spend in my studio. Starting new series and some nice seasonal paintings.

I'm so grateful for this marvelous year full of unforgettable moments and I hope that you enjoy this review as much as I do.

All my best wishes for 2019 dear friend.

Hugs and Kisses

Autumn at Middle Earth

.

“I sang of leaves, of leaves of gold, and leaves of gold there grew:
Of wind I sang, a wind there came and in the branches blew.
Beyond the Sun, beyond the Moon, the foam was on the Sea,
And by the strand of Ilmarin there grew a Golden Tree.

Beneath the stars of Ever-eve in Eldamar it shone,
In Eldamar beside the walls of Elven Tirion.
There long the golden leaves have grown upon the branching years,
While here beyond the Sundering Seas now fall the Elven-tears.

O Lórien! Too long I have dwelt upon this Hither Shore
And in a fading crown have twined the golden elanor.
But if of ships I now would sing, what ship would come to me,
What ship would bear me ever back across so wide a Sea?”

― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Lord of the Rings
