Hallo lieber Gast

Ihm prangen

die Deckel purpurn in Damast;

ich löse seine goldnen Spangen

mit kühlen Händen, ohne Hast.

Und lese seine erste Seite,

beglückt durch den vertrauten Ton, –

und lese leiser seine zweite,

und seine dritte träum ich schon.

Rainer Maria Rilke, 1875 - 1926

Mein Norden - Novembertag

 .

Novembertag

Geht ein sonnenloser Tag

wiederum zur Neige,

und der graue Nebel tropft

durch die kahlen Zweige.

Leise atmend ruht die See,

müde, traumumsponnen . . .

eine Woge, schaumgekrönt,

ist im Sand zerronnen.

Study the past 2021

This pandemic and full of lost last year I wasn't sure if I have enough nice moments from 2021 to share them with you, but I love traditions and so I give it a try. All is said about last year's complications...

- January 2021

My North - we have started the year with an amazing walk around the Meißendorf lakes.

Study the past, if you would divine the future.

- Confucius

- February 2021

February send us the very early signs of Springtime to our cottage garden. I love these tiny crocuses, they aren't afraid of rain and cold and are such gorgeous signs of hope every year again.

- March 2021

And suddenly the full Spring is there. So much needed during this complicated time and I'm so very thankful living in the countryside so we can enjoy Spring with all senses.

- April 2021

The saddest Springtime for years, my beloved father died in his 92nd year and was buried under blooming trees at my hometown Ebstorf.

- Mai 2021

The Steinhuder Sea is a very lovely nearby location to visit and have a wonderful walk around it.

- June 2021

June was another hard month because we had to say goodbye to our beloved Xenia after 17 wonderful years together.

- Juli 2021

There's always some magic in the Summer garden.

- August 2021

The Lueneburg Heath is in full bloom, that's every year at August a highlight to enjoy.

- September 2021

First time after two long years at the sea again, I can't say how very happy I am!!!! St. Peter-Ording

- October 2021

Breathtaking autumn moments right on your own doorstep, wonderful walk through the park around Castle Celle.

- November 2021

And again I used the Corona year for another year of my online art studies and painted in my free time as much as my sweet little cat princess alowed.

- December 2021

December gives us a lovely hint of early winter, so one can enjoy the warmth of a cozy home filled with love and candlelight.

I'm so grateful for this marvelous year full of unforgettable moments and I hope that you enjoy this review as much as I do.

All my best wishes to 2022 dear friends.

Hugs and Kisses

Mein Norden - wie ein stiller See

.

Ruhe

über die sehnsuchtssingende Fläche.

Doch wirfst du deines Auges milden Strahl
in meiner singenden Seele lauschenden Grund,
stillreger Wipfel Mondesnachtgesang,
die Schwäne rühren träumend ihr Gefieder
und singen wundertief und wehmutsselig
der Mutter Nacht ein nebeltrübes Lied.

  Walter Calé, 1881 - 1904

My North - The wonderful silence

.

The silence of December's nature refills empty space in heart and soul and I enjoy being outside at our Lake- and Moorland here in Lower Saxony, North Germany. It makes me thankful for this great and fulfilled year behind me.

“Have you ever heard the wonderful silence just before the dawn? Or the quiet and calm just as a storm ends? Or perhaps you know the silence when you haven't the answer to a question you've been asked, or the hush of a country road at night, or the expectant pause of a room full of people when someone is just about to speak, or, most beautiful of all, the moment after the door closes and you're alone in the whole house? Each one is different, you know, and all very beautiful if you listen carefully.”

― Norton Juster, The Phantom Tollbooth

I wish you all a wonderful silent and refilling 4. Advent Sunday. A season of hope, a season of love, a season of blessings. May the divine light of Christmas shine in your life this season. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. ”

Herzlichst, isabella

Study the past - 2018

.
- January 2018

Time for a serene and peaceful winter walk around the lakes of Meißendorf and Bannetze Moor. It's a nature reserve and bird reserve of national importance on the edge of the Lüneburg Heath in the state of Lower Saxony in northern Germany. And if you'd luck you got some wonderful misty impressions.

Study the past, if you would divine the future.

- Confucius

- February 2018

Lower Saxony is certainly one of the best regions to visit because it combines wonderfully varied scenery with fascinating towns and cities and great cultural heritage. So the Wienhausen Abbey, founded 1233. And although you can not visit the monastery from the inside during the winter months, is a walk around the gorgeous buildings and through the lovely little park and village just sublime.

- March 2018

In this march it was really time for some seaside days and so we visit Sylt again. It's the largest North Frisian island and a real popular destination for fine food and water sports. Located at Schleswig-Holstein's North Sea coast.

- April 2018

Nature and Garden awakes with fresh green, thousands of tiny flowers and I enjoy spending first afternoons with gardening and my cats outdoor.

- May 2018

In May we've visited after 14 years abstinence one of our all time love points MENORCA.  Fine white sand, the sea an almost-unbelievable shade of turquoise, and the prettiest scenery - Menorca's beaches are often compared to the Caribbean, and yet they're so close to home. These are the most beautiful of them all. Here you can see the little but very lovely beach Cala Alcaufar.

- June 2018

Best month to enjoy all this work done at our garden is June, all the roses (and there are a lot of roses at our garden) are in full bloom - every year again it's absolutely breathtaking and I feel so blessed for this chance in life to plan a garden by myself and to enjoy all its ups and downs. Our cottage garden is now 16 years old and looks exactly like in my dreams. And painting outside, inspired by all these lovely flowers around me is overwhelming and one of my favorite activities during this long days and lightful summer evenings.

- July 2018

Summer 2018 was an endless time of sunny days. It's so fantastic to enjoy some of our wonderfully beautiful lakes nearby at the Lueneburger Heide, Lower Saxony - Germany. Peaceful places, great nature and absolutely silence.

- August 2018

2018 is always a holiday month mostly at the North Sea coast aroung St. Peter-Ording and this year we visit one day the Viking Museum Haithabu. It's one of the most important archaeological museums in Germany. The UNESCO has nominated the Viking Age trading venue and the Danewerk border building as world cultural heritage this year. Both the museum and the seven reconstructed houses located on the grounds show impressively how people live there during the Early Middle Ages.

- September 2018

This was a longtime wish and now it comes true, I'd the possibility to take a watercolor workshop  with Joseph Zbukvic and EPC Art Courses at Girona and Costa Brava. This was a plein air excursion to unique and awesome little village of Calellja de Palafrugell.

- October 2018

With great steps Autumn comes around the corner, so it's time for planning a new Fine-Art-Snail Calendar with my little model friends.

- November 2018

Visiting the Dwarf beech (Fagus sylvatica var. Suentelensis) avenue, Bad Nenndorf, Lower Saxony, Germany was a longtime wish and finally I've done it. See my post about this visit: Autumn at Middle Earth

- December 2018

This year December was a very calm and relaxing month, with much time to enjoy the wonderful Christmas Holidays with delicious food, good friends and family dinners and much time to spend in my studio. Starting new series and some nice seasonal paintings.

I'm so grateful for this marvelous year full of unforgettable moments and I hope that you enjoy this review as much as I do.

All my best wishes for 2019 dear friend.

Hugs and Kisses

Mein Norden - die Stille zwischen den Jahren

.

My North - the turning

.

“There are some people who live in a dream world,
and there are some who face reality;
and then there are those who turn one into the other.”

– Douglas H. Everett

Last Sunday we'd a really dreamy afternoon walk at the Meißendorfer Lakes. This is a nature reserve and bird reserve of national importance on the edge of the Lüneburg Heath in the state of Lower Saxony in northern Germany. The special importance of this nature reserve is underlined by its recognition as a major federal nature reserve project. And as you see it was a very foggy afternoon with this special misty mood I like so much. Only the going light stopped me to take thousands of photos

.

My North - space enough

.

We need to give each other the space to grow, to be ourselves, to exercise our diversity. We need to give each other space so that we may both give and receive such beautiful things as ideas, openness, dignity, joy, healing, and inclusion.

- Max de Pree

my North - expressive feature

.

A lake is a landscape's most beautiful and expressive feature. It is Earth's eye; looking into which the beholder measures the depth of his own nature.

― Henry David Thoreau, Walden

my North - near truth

.

When you feel a peaceful joy, that's when you are near truth.

― Rumi
