Mein Norden - Meer geht immer!

 .

Es war mal wieder an der Zeit und dieses Mal hatten wir mehr als nur Glück mit dem Wetter. Es war einfach umwerfend schön und die Nordsee zeigte sich von ihrer besten Seite. 

Himmel von solcher Tiefe und Klarheit, dass man sich winzig und beglückt fühlte. 

Dieses Mal hatten wir uns für eine Wanderung in Richtung Westerhever auf der Deichkrone entschieden. Der Wind war frisch und wir froh, über unsere warmen Jacken.

Aus dieser Perspektive haben wir "Norddeutschland schönsten Leuchtturm" noch nie gesehen. 

Die Stille und Einsamkeit dieses herrlichen Frühlingstages taten unglaublich gut.

Auch auf diesem Bild ist der Leuchtturm Westerhever zu sehen, allerdings eher ein Suchbild. Eine fingerbreite Linie ziehen vom vorderen rechten Pfosten aus in Richtung Horizont - et voilà!!! 

Das Unglaubliche ist wirklich, dass man an solchen Frühlingstagen in der Wochenmitte das herrliche Gebiet fast allein für sich hat.

Solange wir noch berufstätig sind, brauchen wir diese kleinen Auszeiten ganz besonders und die ersehnte Ruhe und Stille füllt und stärkt. 

Mit diesem letzten Beitrag im April 2026 wünsche ich Euch allen einen wunderbaren Start in meinen Lieblingsmonat Mai, der traditionell unser Reisemonat ist. Also nicht nur Tagesausflüge, sondern mal ein wenig mehr Zeit neuen oder auch alten liebgewonnenen Orten widmen.

Southern Corners - 46, Morro Jable Lighthouse

Everyone who knows me knows that I have a huge weakness for lighthouses. And I don't know why, but I missed showing you this part of Fuerteventura with the snow white lighthouse of Jandia. 

The Puerto del Morro Jable was built in the 1980s in order to connect Fuerteventura with the other Canary Islands. Get comfortable in a seashore restaurant, sip a coffee, and observe fishing and sport boats maneuvering around big ferries.

The Morro Jable Lighthouse came into service in 1996 and is still active today. It stands next to the beach and the salt marsh. It was conceived as a unique lighthouse, which should serve as a landmark and a reference in its surroundings, in the style of the old English lighthouses. Its height is 60 meters.

We haven't visited this south part of the island often and feel more at home in the middle and on the west coast.

Frühling auf Borkum

 .

Manchmal muss es eben Meer sein und wenn dann noch die Frühlingssonne dazukommt, ist eben alles perfekt. Genauso war es, als wir uns im März 2022 (es war noch in post Coronazeiten) und fernwehgeplagt und auf den Weg nach Borkum machten. 

Da Wetter war frühlingshaft durchwachsen, die Insel nun wirklich nicht überfüllt, so dass wir unser verlängertes Wochenende sehr genossen haben. Oben im Bild seht ihr schon den sehr hohen Leuchtturm von Borkum, der fast in der "Ortsmitte" steht. Den mussten wir uns natürlich näher anschauen. 

Und staunten nicht schlecht über tausende von Narzissen, gesprenkelt mit lauter niedlichen und durch und durch lebendigen Osterhäschen.

Brief in die Sommerfrische

Ich habe so Sehnsucht nach Dir.

Weil alles so gut steht

Auf unserem Gemüsebeet.

Und Du bist in England. Nicht hier

Bei mir.

Frau heißt auf Englisch »wife«;

Muß man, um das zu lernen,

Sich so weit und so lange entfernen?

Bei uns ist alles Gemüse reif.

Meinst Du, daß ich das allein

Esse? Kommt gar nicht in Frage.

Und so vergehen die Tage.

Könnte doch zu zweit so billig sein.

Bis August und noch September vergeht,

Ist alles verfault auf dem Beet.

Aber Englisch ist wichtiger als Gemüse,

Das es schließlich auch in Büchsen gibt.

Southern Corners 36 - The grapevines of Porquerolles

 .

Every September I remember the wonderful holidays on Porquerolles that we took a few years ago. It is a magnificent island, a small miracle and full of beauty. Worth a trip, especially in the off-season. Here you can see more posts by me about this beautiful island.

My North - Island Sylt, it's all about skies

 

During the last few years we've spend every April/March some wonderful extended weekends on the island Sylt, North Sea. Not sure about this tradition this year, but I long for the sea very. 

The lighthouse "Rotes Kliff" put into service in 1913 was looked after by the lighthouse keepers of the Kampen tower. The tower is 11 meters high with a firing height of 23 meters. In 1975 the red cliff light went out and the tower was decommissioned. Today it is a popular marker for hikers along the coast between Kampen and List.

During our walk to the Lighthouse "Red Cliff" this time the weather changed in minutes for sun to blizzard.

But after a few minutes the strong wind blows the heavy clouds away and the sun comes out again.

West Lighthouse, List. The "Ellenbogen" is the northernmost point in Germany and the dangerous point for seafarers has two lighthouses very close together. There’s a private street with 6,00 € toll to the Ellenbogen from List 4 km.

East Lighthouse, List is traditional painted with white and red stripes.

And one good thing about cold, and constantly changing weather is too, that there are really fewer people around you. And all is yours, the land, the wide, the clouds, and the rain too. 

And while it's impossible to hike dry-shod, I really enjoy these island days.

Southern Corners 13 - Lighthouse of Cavalleria

Lighthouse of Cavalleria

The northernmost of the lighthouses of Menorca was inaugurated in 1857 to reduce more than 700 ship accidents that had happened on its shores since the fourteenth century. The white tower is located more than 90 meters above sea level, that’s why this lighthouse is surrounded by spectacular cliffs and is an excellent spot to enjoy the best panoramas of the entire north coast.

It is the only one that has an interpretation center. Without a doubt, the best part is its incredible sunsets, which have become very fashionable lately. We visit this wonderful place in the preseason in May 2018 and as you see, there are only a few people enjoying the spectacular scenery.
