Hallo lieber Gast

- Paula Modersohn-Becker

Sommerfrische

 .

Brief in die Sommerfrische

Ich habe so Sehnsucht nach Dir.
Weil alles so gut steht
Auf unserem Gemüsebeet.
Und Du bist in England. Nicht hier
Bei mir.
Frau heißt auf Englisch »wife«;
Muß man, um das zu lernen,
Sich so weit und so lange entfernen?

Bei uns ist alles Gemüse reif.
Meinst Du, daß ich das allein
Esse? Kommt gar nicht in Frage.
Und so vergehen die Tage.
Könnte doch zu zweit so billig sein.

Bis August und noch September vergeht,
Ist alles verfault auf dem Beet.
Aber Englisch ist wichtiger als Gemüse,
Das es schließlich auch in Büchsen gibt.
Und ich gönne Dir das alles sehr. Grüße
Dich!
Dein Mann (einsam in Dich verliebt).

Joachim Ringelnatz, 1883 - 1934

Ich wünsche Euch allen einen wundervollen August!

Mein Norden - wie ein stiller See

.

Ruhe

Mein Herz ist schlafen, wie ein stiller See.
Und ruhig gleiten meine weichen Lieder,
wie Schwäne, leise rinnende Kreise ziehend, – weißt du? –
über die sehnsuchtssingende Fläche.

Doch wirfst du deines Auges milden Strahl
in meiner singenden Seele lauschenden Grund,
dann blickt der Mond, in Silberblau getaucht,
Duftnebel streuend auf den dunkeln See,
ein Tönen schwingt sich flüsternd über die Weiten,
stillreger Wipfel Mondesnachtgesang,
die Schwäne rühren träumend ihr Gefieder
und singen wundertief und wehmutsselig
der Mutter Nacht ein nebeltrübes Lied.

Happy 244th Birthday, America! Stay Healthy! Stay Secure!

It goes without saying that 2020 will be remembered as a historic year. The global COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact our daily lives, including our canceled plans for traveling and see our friends in the USA again. Despite celebrations being vastly different from years past, it's important that you dear friends, don't forget the true meaning of Independence Day. July 02, 2020.

Happy 244th Birthday, America! Stay Healthy! Stay Secure!

“My dream is of a place and a time where
America will once again be seen
as the last best hope of earth.”

—Abraham Lincoln

And I'm sure, we see us all again!!

Donau Schiffsmühle, Gifhorn - Danube Boat Mill

.

The Old Mill

Here from the brow of the hill I look,
Through a lattice of boughs and leaves,
On the old gray mill with its gambrel roof,
And the moss on its rotting eaves.
I hear the clatter that jars its walls,
    And the rushing water’s sound,
And I see the black floats rise and fall
As the wheel goes slowly round.

I rode there often when I was young,
With my grist on the horse before,
And talked with Nelly, the miller’s girl,
    As I waited my turn at the door;
And while she tossed her ringlets brown,
And flirted and chatted so free,
The wheel might stop or the wheel might go,
It was all the same to me.

’T is twenty years since last I stood
On the spot where I stand to-day,
And Nelly is wed, and the miller is dead,
And the mill and I are gray.
But both, till we fall into ruin and wreck,
    To our fortune of toil are bound;
And the man goes, and the stream flows,
And the wheel moves slowly round.

Der Chor der Nixen

Chor der Nixen

Ihr glücklichen Kinder
Schlürft das Vergnügen;
Bald wird es versiegen;
Ein langer Winter
Rafft es dahin.
Euer Sinn
Schaut nicht vorwärts,
Schaut nicht zurück.
Vergängliches küßt ihr,
Sorglos genießt ihr
Den Augenblick.

Wir können nicht lieben;
Von Wind und Wellen
Umhergetrieben,
Bis wir zerschellen,
Ward uns als Leben
Nicht mehr gegeben
Als euch im Traum.
Wunschlos entstehen wir,
Wunschlos vergehen wir
Wieder zu Schaum.

Frank Wedekind, 1864 - 1918

my North - Melancholy

All changes are
more or less tinged
with melancholy,
for what we are
leaving behind is
part of ourselves.

My North - a walk between day and night 1

.

... a walk between day and night - nothing better and more poetic then these grey hours at late February Sunday afternoons for a walk through the silence of this special month. I love "my North" so much!!

All a question of DNA

.

The Mediterranean is in my DNA. I'm fine inland for about a week, but then I yearn for a limitless view of the sea, for the colours and smells of the Italian and French Riviera.

my North - expressive feature

.

A lake is a landscape's most beautiful and expressive feature. It is Earth's eye; looking into which the beholder measures the depth of his own nature.
