Nothern Minimalism - Vorfreude

 .

Zu dieser Jahreszeit zieht es uns immer wieder stark an die norddeutschen Küsten oder auf die Inseln und unsere Vorfreude ist auch in diesem Jahr schon sehr groß! 

Sich mal wieder ordentlich durchpusten lassen, Himmel und Weite einatmen, ist ein MUSS auch wenn es nur kurz ist.

Die Natur eilt nicht und dennoch wird alles erreicht.

- Laozi, chinesischer Philosoph, lebte im 6. Jahrhundert v. Chr.

Sich wieder neu erden, sozusagen einnorden, ist ein wichtiges Element in unserem Leben und durch die Reduziertheit der Küstenlandschaften wirklich gut und nachhaltig umsetzbar. 

Auch der Frühling ist dort zu finden, klein und fein, oft später, aber umso freudiger begrüßt. 

Ich konnte mich von jeher der Philosophie des Minimalismus anschließen und teile auch hier die Meinung Fontanes: 

Die Dinge beobachten gilt mir beinah mehr als sie besitzen,
und so hat man schließlich seinen Glück- und Freudeertrag
wie anscheinend Bevorzugtere.

My North - full moon above the Wadden Sea

 .

A car train travel from Westerland Sylt to Niebüll is a very comfortable way to enjoy your trip home. You take your car onto the car train in Westerland and relax in your own four walls during the crossing, while the panorama of the Wadden Sea passes by. Only here can you take your hands off the wheel and let your mind wander. During the full moon last September, we had the chance to enjoy this unforgettable experience. Yes, the photo quality is a bit poor; the train is moving, jerking, and lurching, but I love how these impressions turn out, and I hope you like them too.

Mein Norden - eine Art von Sommer

 .

Ja, auch das ist Sommer in Norddeutschland und es ist eine Stimmung, die ich besonders liebe. Wenn der Wind heftig über die fast leeren weiten Strände bläst, dann fühle ich mich einfach perfekt eingenordet, frei und ganz und gar am richtigen Platz.

Juist Tage

 .

Das Ankommen mit einer Fähre macht jeden Urlaub auf dieser autofreien Insel zu einem einzigartigen Erlebnis. Man ist nach der fast zweistündigen Überfahrt bereits angenehm entschleunigt. 

Auch dieses Mal hatten wir ein Zimmer im Strandhotel Kurhaus Juist mit einem herrlichen Blick aufs Meer. 

Wir haben vor vielen Jahren dieses Haus noch als Ruine kennengelernt und waren begeistert, als es auf das Feinste renoviert seinen Betrieb wieder aufnahm. Seither waren wir oft dort zu Gast. Zurzeit ist der Betrieb in der Insolvenz, da eine kostendeckende Betriebsführung nicht mehr gewährleistet war, was man als Gast schon vor zwei Jahren deutlich merken konnte. 

Aber die Insel hat weit mehr zu bieten, als ein Hotel. Selbst im Hochsommer nicht überlaufen, mit kilometerlangen Stränden und einer wundervollen lebendingen Dünenlandschaft. 

Interessant gestaltete Wanderwegen laden ein, auch mal abseits vom Meer zu laufen. Die Windharfe (oben links im Bild) hatte es mir besonders angetan. Ich habe versucht ihre Töne einzufangen, was allerdings durch den Wind, der ja sehr notwendig ist, nur durch sehr genaues hinhören zu erlauschen ist. 

Wetterwechsel ist an der Nordsee an der Tagesordnung und sollte mit entsprechender Kleidung stets tapfer ertragen werden.

Denn wenn dann wieder die Sonne scheint, wird man/frau doch auf Allerbeste belohnt! 

Sanddorn, das Beerengewächs links oben im Bild, ist meine Lieblings Fruchtaufstrich im griechischen Joghurt. Überall auf der Insel findet man so bezaubernde kleine Kunstwerke, wie den Schwimmer rechst unten.

Frühling auf Borkum

 .

Manchmal muss es eben Meer sein und wenn dann noch die Frühlingssonne dazukommt, ist eben alles perfekt. Genauso war es, als wir uns im März 2022 (es war noch in post Coronazeiten) und fernwehgeplagt und auf den Weg nach Borkum machten. 

Da Wetter war frühlingshaft durchwachsen, die Insel nun wirklich nicht überfüllt, so dass wir unser verlängertes Wochenende sehr genossen haben. Oben im Bild seht ihr schon den sehr hohen Leuchtturm von Borkum, der fast in der "Ortsmitte" steht. Den mussten wir uns natürlich näher anschauen. 

Und staunten nicht schlecht über tausende von Narzissen, gesprenkelt mit lauter niedlichen und durch und durch lebendigen Osterhäschen.

On a cold winter day we made a visit at Lüneburg, where we'd lived some years long ago and visited the famous Monastery Lüneburg.

I discovered some beautiful cat baskets on Instagram and reactivated my crotched skills. Coralie love her new created chilling places.

In March we spend some wonderful, cold, and windy days on the Frisian Island Sylt.

I never get tiered of this first view in the morning. Especially when Spring arrived. 

- Mai 2024

May is always one of the best months of the year for me. Nature is in full bloom; the temperatures are stabil higher again, it is my birthday month, asparagus season, and the first strawberries are growing on the fruit farms around us. 

- June 2024

It was perfect weather for a garden photo shooting with or sweet neighbor girl Paula. We had so much fun together. 

- Juli 2024

Juli brought a lot of rain and impressive skies. 

- August 2024

The sea was calling and we loved to stay at Heiligenhafen, Baltic Sea. We had such a great room with a fantastic sea view day and night. 

- September 2024

We'd decided to spend some days on Sylt Island again and had a late summer fun some at the beach. 

- October 2024

For a long time, I had wished to discover more castles and palaces in Sachsen-Anhalt, so we visited the gorgeous water castle Flechtingen. 

- November 2024

November brought early twilight, fog, rain, snow, and awesome sundowns. 

- December 24

Fortunately, Christmas markets are back, and the one in our beautiful half-timbered town of Celle is considered one of the most enchanting in all of Northern Germany. 

 I'm so grateful for this marvelous year full of unforgettable moments and I hope that you enjoy this review as much as I do.

Sylt Days - 3

We've had such luck with the weather. Against all forecasts it was wonderfully sunny, spring-like, although very windy. We decided to visit the lovely village of Keitum with it's many old Captain's Houses. 

At Keitum too it wasn't crowded and we spent a lot of time walking the small streets up and down, enjoying the gorgeous old buildings and the lovely Spring gardens. 

The former captain's village of Keitum is considered the most beautiful place on Sylt.

In this photo I love the shadows too. This building was built 1786

Behind every corner is a new very old beautiful house with a lovely garden to see. 

Thousand and thousands of crocuses, muscari, snowdrops, and daffodils are in full bloom.

 

 The first blooms of spring always make my heart sing.

The 200 to 300 year old houses and the typical Frisian walls made of field stones that surround the properties are characteristic of the town located on the mudflat side of the island. 

The Altfriesisches Haus is located on the Keitumer Watt. The former house of the teacher and chronicler Christian Peter Hansen was built in 1739 and represents the typical construction of that time. It is one of the few captain's houses that can still be viewed from the inside. The furnishings have largely been preserved, so you can imagine yourself back in the 18th and 19th centuries.

The historic properties are reminiscent of a time when Sylt was not yet a holiday island, but the islanders lived primarily from whaling.
