Hallo lieber Gast

- Paula Modersohn-Becker

Southern Corner 44 - Porquerolles vertical

Photographing vertical holiday impressions that also convey a real atmosphere is really not easy.

I noticed these vertical impressions while looking through my Porquerolles photographs for a suitable watercolor motif. I realized that they would be well suited to a post of their own.

Of course, the wonderful marina is particularly suitable for this format.

But impressions from our hikes around the island also offer wonderful vertical motifs.

The memories of the fragrant forest paths are particularly beautiful.

Or the breathtaking views over the wildly rugged coastline.

Again and again you can see glimpses of hidden bays, which are called "Calanque" here.

From afar but always a good orientation on the hike is the impressive lighthouse of Porquerolles.

This one is my absolute favorite because it shows the blue mountains of the nearby mainland and the idyll of the island equally.

The narrow streets in the town also make wonderful motifs.

I have already painted this and I love the watercolor as much as the original.

I hope you enjoy this Porquerolles vertical journey.

A bientôt!

Southern Corners 36 - The grapevines of Porquerolles

 .

On the island of Porquerolles (Côte d'Azur - France), Domaine de l'Ile and a few other wineries produce rosés and whites between land and sea. The carefully-selected traditional Mediterranean grape varieties express all the distinctiveness and insularity of their location.

They bear the hallmark of a commitment, a commitment to creating wines with a unique Southern character. These are wines of the sun and the wind, unleashing the freshness of the sea spray and the character of a unique land.

“Wine cheers the sad, revives the old, inspires the young,

and makes weariness forget his toil.”

Lord Byron

Every September I remember the wonderful holidays on Porquerolles that we took a few years ago. It is a magnificent island, a small miracle and full of beauty. Worth a trip, especially in the off-season. Here you can see more posts by me about this beautiful island.

Southern Corners 24 - Windows of Porquerolles

There's a world out there. Open a window, and it's there.

Planning the vacations for 2022 I just thinking of one of my favorite spots at the Mediterranean Sea, the island of Porquerolles. And I found all these lovely shots of windows which create such a wonderful atmosphere.

Wonderful memories of unforgettable days on the enchanting island of Porquerolles. They comfort me and hopefully you too at a time when travel is something very distant and unattainable.

“There's a lot of difference between listening and hearing.”

― G.K. Chesterton

Traveling without fear, only to enjoy the beautiful atmosphere and fill up the empty spaces inside, I hope that the next year will bring back this to us all over the world. These lovely impressions were taken 2015 at one of my all-time love spot - Porquerolles. A magical place in the Mediterranean Sea.

Southern Corners 3 - Porquerolles

The island of Porquerolles, France is one of these places on earth which has become a part of my heart. I know this lovely island for more than 20 years and it hasn't changed its beautiful face.

Located in the Gulf of St. Tropez at the heart of Provence and French Rivera. Here you can see how near ( 5km) the mainland is.

You can reach the island by ferries and shuttles and had to leave your car at the mainland. Or you take your boat ... I think this car-less situation is one of the secrets of the beauty of Porquerolles.

the Telegraph wrote:

Granted, it's a summer crush in the day-time island village. So take a bike, or a pair of legs (the island is car-less), and make for the Plage Notre-Dame. This is the white-sand, commerce-free, pine-fringed, and herb-scented Med beach about which you dreamed all winter in front of the gas fire. The clever thing is to stay over on the island so that, when the last day-trippers have ferried away, you may share balmy Med evenings with the discerning fewer.

.. and we stay and enjoy some peaceful days in September 2015 - we have to refresh it.
