Hallo lieber Gast

A dreamer

.

A dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight,
and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world.

Oscar Wilde

__

They are tiny, the first signs of the approaching spring but yet the fresh splashes of color in the brown leaves of the previous year are clearly eye-catching. How I love this time of year, it is a symbol of hope and renewal. And when the first cranes, wild geese, and swans return in the sky, I always stand there and listen with unbridled joy in my heart.

Winter's power is broken!

 .

The Snowdrop

The snowdrop, Winter's timid child,
Awakes to life, bedew'd with tears;
And flings around its fragrance mild,
And where no rival flow'rets bloom,
Amid the bare and chilling gloom,
A beauteous gem appears!

All weak and wan, with head inclined,
Its parent breast the drifted snow;
It trembles while the ruthless wind
Bends its slim form; the tempest lours,
Its emerald eye drops crystal showers
On its cold bed below.

Poor flower! on thee the sunny beam,
No touch of genial warmth bestows;
Except to thaw the icy stream,
Whose little current purls along
Thy fair and glossy charms among,
And whelms thee as it flows.

The night-breeze tears thy silky dress,
Which deck'd, with silvery lustre shone;
The morn returns, not thee to bless,
The gaudy crocus flaunts its pride,
And triumphs where its rival died,
Unshelter'd and unknown!

No sunny beam shall gild thy grave,
No bird of pity thee deplore;
There shall no spreading branches wave;
For Spring shall all her gems unfold,
And revel 'mid her buds of gold,
When thou art seen no more!

Where'er I find thee, gentle flower,
Thou still art sweet and dear to me;
For I have known the cheerless hour,
Have seen the sunbeams cold and pale,
Have felt the chilling wintry gale,
And wept and shrunk like thee!

Offenbarung

.

Offenbarung

Natur spricht laut in Wort und Schrift
Du mußt nur Windeswehen
Und Duft und Klang und Wald und Trift
Und Fels und Meer verstehen!

Ein jeder Baum, der braust in Wettern,
Und jede Blume auf der Flur,
Und jeder Zweig ist voll von Blättern
Der Offenbarung der Natur.

Auf jedem Blatt steht licht und offen:
"O glaub' an helle Frühlingsluft!"
Auf jedem Blatt steht grünes Hoffen,
Still flüsternd um die Blumenbrust.

Auf jedem Blatt steht groß geschrieben:
"Der Geist der Lieb' durchweht die Flur!"
Auf jedem Blatt steht: "Lieben! lieben!"
Als Offenbarung der Natur.

Hermann Rollett, 1819 - 1904

Jetzt kommt der Frühling bald!

.

my Garden in Autumn

.

Autumn

The thistledown's flying, though the winds are all still,
On the green grass now lying, now mounting the hill,
The spring from the fountain now boils like a pot;
Through stones past the counting it bubbles red-hot.

The ground parched and cracked is like overbaked bread,
The greensward all wracked is, bents dried up and dead.
The fallow fields glitter like water indeed,
And gossamers twitter, flung from weed unto weed.

Hill-tops like hot iron glitter bright in the sun,
And the rivers we're eying burn to gold as they run;
Burning hot is the ground, liquid gold is the air;
Whoever looks round sees Eternity there.

gardener can learn from the unrestrained beauty around them."

Witchhazel & Elfin Song

.

Elfin Song

Ouphe and goblin! imp and sprite!
Elf of eve! and starry Fay!
Ye that love the moon’s soft light,
Hither—hither wend your way;
Twine ye in a jocund ring,
Sing and trip it merrily,
Hand to hand, and wing to wing,
Round the wild witch-hazel tree.

Hail the wanderer again,
With dance and song, and lute and lyre.
Pure his wing and strong his chain,
And doubly bright his fairy fire.
Twine ye in an airy round,
Brush the dew and print the lea;
Skip and gambol, hop and bound,
Round the wild witch-hazel tree.

The beetle guards our holy ground,
He flies about the haunted place,
And if mortal there be found,
He hums in his ears and flaps his face;
The leaf-harp sounds our roundelay,
The owlet ’s eyes our lanterns be;
Thus we sing, and dance, and play,
Round the wild witch-hazel tree
