Läut' ein, du neues Jahr!

O möchten deine Glockentöne tragen
Des Segens Fülle unter jedes Dach!
Laß sie besänftigen den Sturm der Klagen
Und heiß' sie bannen Leid und Ungemach!
Läut' ein, läut' ein den wundermächt'gen Frieden,
Daß uns die Welt nochmals ein Eden sei!
Läut' ein die Wahrheit, daß uns schon hienieden
Der Hauch des Gottesgeistes mache frei!
Läut' ein die Liebe, laß sie lodernd flammen,
Zu tilgen, was des Menschen unwert ist,
Und führ' in Gnaden alle die zusammen,
Die Haß und Mißgunst trennt zu jeder Frist!
